| So What Are Altezza Lights?! |
'Altezza' tail lights and 'Euro' tail lights are one in the same! They are rear brake lights that have a clear lens over top of red or amber lamps usually with a chrome backing. Their sleek design gives vehicles a sporty and modern look and they can be easily installed as a direct replacement to factory OEM tail lights.This unique lighting style was first introduced by Toyota in Europe on its Alteeza model sedan, hence the name 'altezza'.
 Due to their popularity they are now usually referred to as altezza lights, euro lights or simply euro tails. The Altezza was actually marketed in North America as the Lexus IS300, but the Altezza name stuck, once the brake light design was adapted to other vehicles. Since then, many companies have begun manufacturing aftermarket altezza euro lights for trucks, cars, vans and SUVs, making them a must have when customizing your vehicle. Some people still confuse these lights with "completely clear" or "white" tail lights though (no red or amber at all). In fact, completely clear taillights are illegal in most places and no longer available to the public. |
You'll find that most euro lights today are manufactured to be DOT and SAE compliant. Many of these lights are available in different colors and styles such as: Crystal Clear, Carbon Fiber, Bermuda Black and Platinum Smoke. The color refers mainly to the backing (housing) of the tail lights, because the lenses are almost always clear.
